Practice Management

Sue Stokes

Sue Stokes"I joined the Coleridge Medical Centre in December 2005 as Assistant Practice Manager and have been in post as Practice Manager since June 2010.

Our challenge is to work with colleagues in health and social care, other practices and patients to find innovative and sustainable ways to maintain our high standards of care, within the financial constraints of the ever changing National Health Service.

I live locally and spend time enjoying the amenities this beautiful part of the world has to offer."

The practice manager and her assistants are involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The management team supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Patient Services Advisors provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. They do not wish to know the specific details of your illness but sometimes an indication of your problems can help in giving a prompt answer and directing you to the most appropriate health professional.  They are trained to be discreet and maintain confidentiality at all times. Patient Services Advisors  make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, calling patients in for routine checks, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

Our medical secretaries are experienced in their role and specifically trained in medical terminology.  They facilitate referrals from your doctor to hospitals and other healthcare professionals.  They work with your GP and on your behalf to make sure you are referred to the right place for your medical condition.
